Spanish Bungalow

The design provides the owner and his two young girls with a sophisticated landscape that includes a gracious entry, outdoor entertainment area with pool/spa, and play space. Crisp board-formed concrete, perforated metal, and patterned tile compliment the home's "California Spanish bungalow" architecture. The entry garden features a laser cut gate, small fountain, and mature olive trees. In the rear garden, a low, patterned tile wall incorporates fountain jets that make the pool feel like a fountain. Strategic placement of trees and hedges provide privacy within the small urban lot.

All plants require low to moderate water use except the small turf play area. The turf is planted on Grasspave ™, a recycled resin pervious load-bearing paving system. It serves here as a play area for the kids and a parking surface when needed. It allows storm water pollution filtration and treatment; airborne dust capture and retention; and heat energy reflection reduction - a cool surface.
The garden includes stormwater retention basins and low flow irrigation system. All lighting is LED.
