Stardust House

Site preparation: Be ready to spend a little extra if you have a lot of trees and/or if the lot slopes. You may have to bring in dirt to level the ground where you plan on building your new home.

This view shows the stem wall right after the forms are removed. J bolts are installed about every 6 feet to anchor the exterior walls.

Plumbing rough-in is the next step before back filling the dirt pad area inside of the stem walls

Typically here in Oklahoma we back fill using sand. It will then be compressed by a machine. just before installing the concrete slab. This is also the time to thicken the slab under any interior load bearing walls. We also dug out the corners to allow for thicker concrete slab in those areas.

Had to wait for a good day to pour the concrete slab. It is necessary to choose a week when the weather will be cooperative to pouring a concrete slab. Also the concrete company will need to mix the batch a little different depending on weather conditions.

the roof was ripped off from the left to the right and then thrown into the neighbors yard back to the left.

It was good we made sure the builder had insurance to cover issues like this. He was able to have a crew out the next day to put the roof back on!!
