The addition's 2nd story blends with the existing bungalow by using matching wood shakes (which will darken as they age), and the same hip roof pitch. The lower floor, on the other hand features durable fiber-cement siding, and stands out as purposefully different addition.

The master bedroom on the second floor has a pop-out window seat niche which overlooks the patio, and provides protection from the elements for the new entrance to the downstairs office.
