Summer Breeze Balcony

A corner of relaxation, the best place to drink you coffee in the morning or grow your very own garden, these are just a few of the many functionalities we desired to bring to this small space of our clients apartment.

A discreet seating area was created in the far back corner of the balcony, the only place devoid of movement paths. Flower pots have been placed in front of a wood paneling, next to a small drawer that keeps all the necessary tools for their maintenance.

Seating Area
Multiple textures compose the composition of our interior design: wood found in the paneling and the bird shaped lamps, the white stones with delicate surfaces and the green leaves of the plants.

A vertical garden to grow small edible used in everyday cooking was placed on the far right corner of the balcony, near the kitchen.

The general layout of the space inside the apartment highlights important aspects that must be integrated into the design, such as the relationship between the balcony, the kitchen and the livingroom.

Three of the areas we wanted to isolate within a single space: a seating area, the store units and plants zone and the vertical garden with edible plants used for cooking, right next to the kitchen.
Functional Areas
The natural light is present throughout the space in abundance, this particular aspect created the need to provide shade during the summer when the sun is at its strongest. We used semi-transparent roman curtains to filter the light.
Natural Lighting
The position of the artificial lights had to take into consideration the two entrances inside the balcony, one from each neighbouring room and the presence of the seating corner suitable for reading.
