Summer Serenity

In a town well-known as “The Oldest Summer Resort in America”, the homeowner found two waterfront lots that were combined to build an ideal summertime retreat to welcome family and friends. With a panoramic view of a portion of the “big lake”, the site was developed by a team of masters of trade to become the epitome of summer serenity.

Every room in the house was designed to have a view of the water. In particular, the sunroom blends the inside and outside with custom folding window systems that tuck into wall pockets out of view.
The home’s façade is a study in dichotomy: a seamless blend of symmetrical formality and an organically comfortable environment. The front elevation is even and level, the front door is squarely centered and set back and between two wings to allow for an entry garden. As the house unfolds towards the lakeside, a more organic development occurs with terracing attaching the home to a hill that gently gives way to the water.

A breath-taking, two-story great room features a curved, vaulted ceiling. Custom millwork throughout the home is particularly noticeable in the main stairway and its baluster framing and dramatic newel post. Casement woodwork throughout the home is a treat to behold. A commanding, state-of-the-art geothermal mechanical system keeps this magnificent home appropriately cool and warm.
