The house on the site of the Sunset Green Home project was substantially damaged by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012 and left uninhabitable. The new home will be energy efficient, resilient, and environmentally mindful. The project is registered under the LEED for Homes green building program and will seek LEED Platinum certification at completion. Before the new home can be built, the substantially damaged structure must be removed. Whole home deconstruction has been selected as the most environmentally friendly means of removing the damaged house.
