This beautiful custom home was built with sustainability in mind. The contractor went to great lengths to make sure that this home stood up to his definition of "green". No wood was used on the exterior of the building, and there was very little waste produced from the project. All unused products were recycled, either to other projects or to other contractors. All debris removed from the project was able to fit into the standard issue garbage cans distributed by the local garbage removal service. Use of thermostatic fans, that pull air from the attic space and from the conditioned area under the house, help to maintain the temperature and keep the utility costs to a minimum. Radiant barrier was used in the walls and roof to further assist in helping to keep the house at a constant, comfortable temperature with minimal use of the HVAC system. All landscaping is indigenous to the area, and drought resistant. All plants are set up on an automatic drip system, so you never have to touch a hose or think about it. "Green" is a loose term to use. To us, "green" is defined by the use of products that will out live us; that do not need to be maintained, and will continue to look as good as new with very little attention from the homeowner. Quality construction and attention to the details were key to ensure that this project was a success...and to make sure that it feels like home.
