This 2–story residence won a Design Award from the Florida Solar Energy Center for its Cracker-style Energy Efficient qualities. It is a convincing example of how Cracker Houses from Florida’s past are becoming a design for the future. Houses constructed by the Florida Crackers were built to suit our hot and humid climate.

Today, more people appreciate these Cracker-style homes as awareness of energy conservation becomes increasingly important to us all.
