The Western half of a 1970's duplex required a modern update and the addition of a spacious and light Entry Vestibule. The two-story home had clean horizontal lines and a low horizontal presence, hugging the hillside site that rolls down to the Gorge Waterway, that flows past the backyard. The roofline of the new Vestibule pops up beyond the existing roof parapet, to capture the Southern and Western sunlight throughout the day. The new roof takes similar cues from the ​existing parapet roof and now modernizes the original lines of the roof and the home. The existing Garage space at the front of the home was altered, and separated a portion of the space from the second half
of the duplex, as well as new garage doors. The Garage also includes
a similar parapet-style flat roof.
