The Grey Ghost
Originally built for the Governor of Rhode Island in 1893, Cape Cod's "The Grey Ghost" sat empty for 40 years (hence the nickname) until the new owners came along to restore it to its former glory. Custom wainscoting and woodwork, including carved columns, were created to match the original pieces. The kitchen was completely renovated to provide contemporary conveniences in the historic setting. Barbara Kotzen of Kotzen Interiors collaborated with J.W. Construction to make sure each detail worked.
Windows were added and shapes changed. Where an unattractive Jacuzzi tub was in the master bedroom, turreted alcove, now there is a beautiful window seat that overlooks the ocean below. Fabulous views are enhanced with better placed windows that complement the home's turn-of-the-century shingle style.
