The Rubber House, designed and built by Tom Pritchard in 1983-84 remains a unique landmark of modern architecture. Clad entirely in black EPDM rubber, it was the first house to do utilize material in this way. The design is significant for other reasons too, the bold contorted shapes and massing predate similar forms by Frank Geary and others.
