The Weekender

Frequently traveling to their other home in New Orleans, these clients wanted their second home in St. Louis to be a fun and colorful space to entertain and relax with their friends. We gave this home an updated fresh & funky vibe through strategic paint choices and a mix of modern & eclectic finishes.

Since entertaining in the space is key, we gave purpose to the open sitting room off of the kitchen by creating a bar area. Upper cabinets were removed and replaced with a large mirror backsplash and open shelving to display the clients' barware collection and bounce light around the room.

Before when entering the space, the amount of red - from the walls, to all the woodwork - was overwhelming. A smart use of paint color neutralized these red tones on the walls and cabinetry, and now the floors and brick are red-toned features that add beautiful contrast. Painting out the cabinetry in white & gray take the kitchen from a wood-heavy traditional look to a light, modern-day style. Accents of dark gray embrace what felt like an awkward long wall of bump-outs and windows, and create a dramatic backdrop for a series of artwork to pop against. Another big transformation using paint color was in the bathroom & bedroom; a deep aubergine was used to encompass these rooms and add moody drama.
