The Witte Home - Custom Built Home

A brick wall guides into this home, around which spaces and structure organize themselves. Large windows allow for light from and views into the secluded parts of a wooded lot, while narrow openings allow for privacy towards the street.
With a mere 1,710 sf this home is packed with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths while offering a spacious living by way of an open floorplan, large rooms, compact custom storage, and sight lines to the outside through large floor-to-ceiling windows.

Designed and built for Toby Witte's own family this house was a stepping stone into creating Wittehaus, the company.

A graying cedar slated wall at the covered porch and narrow windows provide privacy to the street. Large floor-to ceiling windows to the side and South open up views to a tree filled property and allow sunlight in.

The master bedroom is seperated from the main living area only by a set of frosted glass sliding barn door panels. While they sequester privacy for sleep they allow the square feet, space, and views to be enjoyed during the day for a spacious living experience.

The brick wall leads into the master bedroom area and tugs away the master bath. Wardrobe type closets offer an abundance of storage and closet space.

Integrated built-in shelving in the staircase allow for easy access to shoes. Placed along the brick wall complete with a niche holding more shoes and a niche for coats the staircase turns into a functional yet stylish mudroom and grand entry combined.

A playful niche along a staircase holds cubicles with boxes of board games. The stair is turned into a library of pastime with the help of Ikea shelving boxes, LED lighting, a painted sheet of OSB, a steel handrail and a fun chandelier.

This laundry room doubles as a jamb packed pantry and storage room. The walls' drywall covers full sheets of OSB to enable the strong solid attachment of hooks and shelving of any kind anywhere. To hold up the end of the shed roof protruding over the side terrace this steel bracket tries to precariously lift up the beam while slicing through the slated cedar wood wall.
