Tortoise and Hare
This Primary Suite interior design project included remodeling both the bedroom and bathroom, as well as furnishings. Our clients wanted a fresh and updated experience in their Primary Suite. Our goals were to create better flow and function, and update the spaces with warm and interesting finishes.
For the bathroom, we improved the layout, and converted a bulky tub/shower combo to a spacious walk-in shower with a bench, handshower, and stacked niches. We added smart storage via bronze framed recessed medicine cabinets that have electrical outlets inside for charging. The upgraded finishes include a marble mosaic floor, green-grey Fireclay ceramic tile for the shower, polished nickel plumbing, bronze lighting, a bleached walnut vanity, and quartzite countertop with a stepped detail in the backsplash.
For the bedroom, we converted a wall of awkward closets to a built-in wardrobe. This makes our client's storage efficient, accessible, and easily visible. The built-in millwork includes a dresser with room for a TV above. We improved the functionality look of the space a few of other ways as well, converting the double door entry to the suite to a single door, upgrading a second closet to swinging doors with inset mirrors, and ensuring that the walls and ceiling have a smooth painted finish (eliminating the outdated texture).
For furniture, instead of the bulky dark furniture our clients had originally, we proposed lighter and softer finishes, and more functional proportions. The large painted bedside chests provide ample storage, and are at a good height for putting your book down as you fall asleep. The custom cotton/linen upholstered headboard introduces some curves with the wavy corners accented by teal blue piping. And the upholstered bench brings in more comfort and function along with color, with its teal block printed linen upholstery.
