The recreation of a new staircase...
Traditional Forged Panel Interior Railing
To begin this project, our field measure was performed with a 3D Laser Scanner. The field measure was then transferred to CAD software, where the rails were designed & drawn with the data gathered from the 3D laser by our design engineer in our CAD department.

Our Blacksmith hot forged and hand hammered the scroll terminations into ball ends from 3/8" iron with measurement specs provided to him by our CAD Design Engineer.

We then laid out our hand forged pieces and began welding all the connections, including the cast flower medallions at the center of each scroll section.

Next, our detailer ground all of the welds smooth and cut in with an acute angle to make the scrolls flow seamlessly.

After our detailer finished grinding the welds, our blacksmith added bands to the scrolls at specified tangent points by torch heating and hand hammering the bands into place.

Our Finishing department hand sanded & finished the railings with an interior flat black enamel.

The forged scroll panels were attached to the Poplar wood handrails and wrapped around the bottom newel post.
