Traditional Kitchen goes Modern

This new kitchen awaits it's lunch counter that will be right behind that sink. The coutners are quartz, the sink is a 30" single bowl sink. That backsplash is brushed aluminum, stone, and glass.

The smoothest black painted cabinets out there. They are of maple construction, with soft close hinges, and full-overlay slab doors. Notice that here is no crown at the top of these 42" wall cabinets.

The cooktop is a GE 36" cooktop. This pictures gives a good view of that remarkable backsplash.

A view of this kitchen before the glass countertop is installed. The red tubular pendants are on a dimmer for evening entertainment.

Whiel we were doing the kitchen, we also removed the traditional fireplace mantle and face. We left of the mantle entirely and installed some new Galaxy Granite material around the face and at the floor.

And our 1/2" glass countertop is installed upon 5 1-1/2" cylindrical lifts. Although the overhead lights reflect yellow, that is not apparent in reality.

Lots of lines in this kitchen - horizontal and vertical. But wait,....the Dining Room light defies all those lines.

Just look at that 36" dining room light! Those curly aluminum strips are anchored to rods from an aluminum center ball. The new lunch counter is in alignment with homeowners love of the glass Dining Room table.

Getting it all to work together, the black has complements of red for accent.

The kitchen floor is charcoal 12" x 24" tile, set in aligned stacking. The overhead bar light brings just enough light over the kitchen. Previously, the builder had only recessed lights along a 17' vault - not much help for general lighting in a busy area.
