The major challenge in creating this space was the awkward nature of entering and leaving the kitchen as well as the kitchen's interaction with the rooms adjacent to it. I had to come up with a plan that would eliminate the triple step down to the dining room, the double step up to the living room and create a new passage way to the kitchen which had to be practical but also elegant due to the positioning of the entry and it's association with the dining room.
