The original footprint of the dated golden oak kitchen was maintained and a small but very functional island was added. The dark raised panel doors were combined with a shiny glass backsplash, a beautiful granite countertop and modern stainless appliances to create a transitional look. The kitchen was made more functional with drawers, pullouts, and a recycling centre in the island. A pantry to the right of the fridge was reconfigured to look like a buffet with a counter to use for serving drinks and glass doors above to break up the expanse of dark cabinetry on that wall. Lighting was improved immensely with the addition of pot lights and under cabinet lighting on dimmers.
