Tropical breeze house

Existing 1960’s ranch home transformed into a modern
sustainable home for five.

Allocating budget for this project was fundamentally about utilizing modern technology to blend it into the tropical surroundings.

The main area of the house acts as a heat sink to move air in and out of the home. It utilizes cool afternoon bay breezes for passive cooling by vaulting the ceiling, and adding generous ventilation to push the hot air out. Cross ventilation, wide porches, generous overhangs complete the passive cooling. Energy star appliances, gas stove, led lights and low flow modern plumbing fixtures. Refurbished original cabinets with new hardware, re-used granite countertops, and a high-efficiency HVAC system complete the design.

So this active household of five, now enjoy beautiful weather year round and trade outdoor time instead of gaming counsels.
