California transplants wanted to bring a relaxed attitude to a 7,900-square-foot Tudor house in Connecticut, sitting on four and half acres, with six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms. With carved wood accents, custom wood doors, wrought iron windows, and spiral stone staircase, the stately home featured incredible architectural details, but it came with a choppy main floor, awkward layouts, and outdated kitchen and baths. SKM Design devised a whole-house plan and opted for a clean, simple design with white walls to allow all of the details to stand out like works of art.
