Tuscan with Mediterranean flair
The design idea for this project was to convert the client’s existing home in their to Dream Home. This was achieved with a complete remodeling of their first floor based on their personal style, comfort and life style. The style chosen was based in the Tuscany Mediterranean part of Italy that they loved. The floor was changed from carpet to dark walnut, bringing a textured new carpet for the Piano room only to achieve the required acoustic effect. All the wood work, frames and doors were changed to a nice off white tone. The staircase was re-designed with new wood steps and metal wood railings. The walls painted in light crème beige to keep the spaces very airy and open. The light fixtures were changed to a gilded gold and copper with an old world look .The palette of color for the furniture was : deep aqua’s, gold’s, coppers and purple browns. The dining room furniture came from the Drexel collection : At Home in Tuscany . The piano room was finished with two conformable swivel chairs, a revolving table and a Tuscan console to complement the black baby grand piano. The kitchen and great room spaces underwent a major remodeling process: with new cabinets, granite counter tops, marble back splash, appliances, wood floors and fireplace. All of this was done in finishes and colors that flow perfectly with the Tuscany –Mediterranean style. This style was feature by black galaxy countertops and a Giallo Napolitano center Island , light golden tumble marble back splash with copper glass square deco’s, light walnut cabinets with dark ascents and doors frames and corbels contrasts with the black distress island base. Finally the frame of the fireplace was faux painted as well as the built in bookcase in a vintage stone treatment
