HDG left no design detail untouched at Upper Rock, an impressive apartment community located in Rockville, MD, developed by Gables Residential, a leader in the development and management of communities across the country. The community provides 149 luxury apartment homes and amenity spaces to match.

From the clubroom to the mailroom, to the Wi-Fi café with coffee bar, to the pub room, everything at Upper Rock was a result of thoughtful design and consideration by the HDG design team. Gables Residential was looking for a unique, yet sophisticated and slightly funky design for this luxury community. HDG delivered spaces that would inspire both relaxation and excitement with rich, warm colors and wood-tones that are reminiscent of a high-end lodge. Unique light fixtures and thought-provoking art pieces give each space an eclectic, contemporary vibe that will keep the design relevant for years to come.

Mixed-wood tones and textures are the foundation for the design, allowing the orange, cognac, and blue accents to truly shine, while the mix of organic and linear shapes of the furnishings truly make a statement, inviting residents to sit, relax, and enjoy the company of others. The open-concept of the common areas allowed for a cohesive design, but subtle changes to the textures and colors in each space to identify them its own independent place.
