Uptown Brownstone

This brownstone renovation provides all the amenities needed for a modern family while striving to create bright and airy spaces even in a townhouse configuration that can feel narrow and dark. The design feels open to the outdoors while still offering refuge from a bustling, densely populated city. There is a timeless quality to the home with versatility that fits in with traditional and contemporary architecture. A crisp minimal design was desired to create the feeling of a modern space while staying contextual to the historic urban fabric.

A grand double height stair connects the main entertaining floor with the rear yard and lower level TV/playing room. Double height stacked casement windows reinforce the height and scale of the space. Wall panelling give texture to the bright white walls that give the space an airy quality.

Trim work at the living room has an integrated quality that feels timeless while offering much needed storage. A bank of tilt turn windows extend to the floor and offer a view of the balcony and rear yard. A shade pocket is discreetly tucked away in a soffited crown.
