This is the house that grew! raising the roof and converting the attic into a full second story allowed the addition of a full master suite, baby's bedroom and bathroom, laundry nook, and a cozy reading window where you can watch the world go by.

Stealing space
From the entry you can see the entire living area of the house. The living, dining and kitchen are all open to each other creating a great social area. Changes in ceiling, wall and floor finishes provide a mental division between the three spaces.
A place for living
This kitchen was originally a sun room with stairs leading to the basement of the home. The island provides ample space for food preparation while entertaining.

Concealing the dishwasher with panels and hiding the microwave in the island provides a cohesive look to the kitchen and keeps counter spaces clear. The pantry beside the fridge houses a pullout recycling center and water dispenser. The vaulted ceiling allows for more storage.

The "rooms" of the main floor are divided with wall and ceiling details that were carefully positioned and chosen not just to create a visual separation, but to allow a place for plumbing lines to run through the house.

Glass railings were installed to allow light from the upstairs windows to filter down through the staircase. The tobacco carpet on the stairs repeats the colour and pattern of the strip oak flooring used throughout the upper floor of the house.

A bright room for baby and a cozy chair for mom. The homeowner painted a full mural on the wall beside the crib to bring the Saharan desert theme to life.

Building in the furniture provided a serene room with a passage through to the master bathroom. Separating the toilet into its own space allowed the bathroom entrance to left open with no door taking up space.
