The entire backyard of this home was dug out and lowered to give this home a functional back yard for kids and entertaining. Working with the architect, a ½ pergola was designed to anchor the shed and patio at the back of the yard and break up the view of the wall.

The stone planters were built to reinforce the upper walls and were abundantly filled with grasses, perennials and evergreens to give movement and ornamentation to the yard and maximize the lawn space for the kids. Views were borrowed and plantings repeated to enlarge the overall feeling of the space.
