As a family legacy project, JUST had the honor to masterplan 2 acres, and renovate, restore, and incorporate a fully integrated sustainable retrofit to a 200 year old stone farmhouse, cottage, studio, and pool house. From it’s conception the project aimed to be a marker for a sustainable future - the project incorporates an on site PV array and battery bank to achieve net positive energy, passive heating and cooling strategies, and 20,000 liters of onsite water reclamation storage for reuse and irrigation. Merging with these technologies, is a local artisan touch, reinterpreted through modern detailing…a fully restored traditional exterior that respects local vernacular and methods, contrasted with new light filled modern interiors. In tandem, we also worked closely with landscape architects, ecologists, and local horticulturalists to design the landscape elements.
