Gary Hohne

Waterfront Residence

This 4,980 sq. ft. home in Middle River, Maryland was designed by Gary Hohne, owner of Hohne Pools and his architectural team. The house is situated in a perfect waterfront location, offering amazing sunset views which can be seen from multiple covered porches surrounding the home. Gary's passion is designing spaces that people can love and enjoy. His favorite features of this home are its pool and backyard amenities. One arrives at the property to experience a beautiful coy pond complete with a stone waterfall, exotic perennial garden, and covered front porch. Nearby, a fiber optic lighting system illuminates an all glass tiled vanishing edge pool with a swim-up seat, underwater stone steps, fireplace, and imported stone deck. The proximity of the Chesapeake Bay waterfront proved to be a challenge during the pool installation, so the space was carefully designed to meet setback requirements while still offering great views. In addition to the pool, a hot tub, fireplace, and outdoor bar accompany a third floor veranda covered deck overlooking the waterfront. A serpentine lighted dry stack stone wall elevates the waterfront garden which includes a 14' by 30' pergola for shade and a cozy outdoor living space complete with an outdoor kitchen. The columns match the house for a cohesive look. Although it's large, every space in the home is used regularly, and multiple outdoor spaces and views of the waterfront allow one to feel relaxed the minute they arrive.
