West Bend Residential Property

This lake residence’s landscape features rugged construction materials that are embraced by a calming plant material palette. The cool, soothing colors of the perennials and groundcovers don’t compete with the subtle colors in the patio and walls. A 6-ton boulder in the wall is softened with a climbing hydrangea that was installed in a crevice between the wall and the patio. The large sawn granite stairs and upper landing terrace are edged with woolly thyme that adds some pleasing fragrance when stepped on. Also note that the walls of the residence and the landscape wall each have a presence of each other’s stone materials in the mix, helping to seamlessly tie in the verticality of the structure to the horizontality of the surrounding landscape.
