West Lynde Transitional Kitchen Remodel
The goal of this kitchen remodel was to have clean lines and a modern edge mixed with real woods and touches of darker colours to keep the space inviting. The original layout in 1970's, had a 3 level back-split walls between kitchen, dining and living areas. All of the walls were removed to create open concept main floor.
The kitchen remodel included:
- Floors done in dark hand scraped oak to ground space against the modern monochromatic colour scheme and for practical reasons of blending in potential scratches
- Cabinets are in white cloud from Benjamin Moore with shaker style door
- Additional TV area for a multipurpose living area
- Wine racks for entertainment
- Over-sized Cambria counter top in Britannia for it's show stopping movement and to accommodate additional seating and light meals
- Sink and faucet chosen for their clean lines
- Faucet also chosen for it's ability to disassemble, to access the opening of the shutters
- Microwave drawer installed in island to free up wall space for upper cabinetry
- Crown molding for additional detailing and to create texture
- Pot lighting and under cabinet lighting installed and accessible from different entry points of the kitchen so that lights can be turned on from anywhere
- Shutters installed on all windows for practicality and ease. Also, to mimic the lines created by cabinets and backsplash
- Back splash is a traditional subway tile, installed in a vertical herringbone pattern to create more texture with a classic look
- Bar stools and club chairs selected to continue the modern look of the space
- Industrial stove for a "chef's" kitchen
- Stairs & railing were replaced and finished in dark stain to match floors
