All of our White Oak Slabs are harvested from storm damaged trees taken down by municipalities and utility companies. This 200 year old tree was blown down in Super Storm Sandy just outside NYC. We inspect each log prior to milling to ensure every slab is usable and reflects the individual character of the tree. Every slab is air dried to 8%-10% to maintain its color and prevent splitting.
