Wong Residence - Newberg, OR

This custom home was designed for a family with three young children. Situated on a site with interesting contours, the building pad had terrific views of the Willamette Valley to the West and a level side yard to the south. The clients wanted an open, great room concept which was family friendly and took advantage of both the views as well as the level yard space. Having three young children, they were also looking for a space where the kids could play indoors without affecting the rest of the house.

With the wish list outlined a home was designed to accommodate all requests. The side yard/kids outdoor play area was accessed via a mudroom off the kitchen space. This placement allowed for mom and dad to see the kids from the kitchen window while they played outdoors. The covered entry and mudroom off the side of the house allowed for easy access and a place for muddy kids to come into in order to clean up and change.

The great room was placed in the center of the home with large windows and a vaulted ceiling to capture the view. The master suite is on the main floor providing privacy for the parents while the kid's rooms are all upstairs. And finally, a large bonus room on the second level was placed over the garage area where the kids could play to their heart's content without disturbing the rest of the household.

All in all, this home met all of the client's wants and needs and has turned out to be a terrific home for the family.
