That particular light looks like our Firefly Cord Hung Ceiling Light without the key on a black cord with black canopy. I attached an image, but you can also find it on our website here:

I like it too--sleek, slim design--great for a small kitchen.

with no upper cabinets, there was not a clear line to stop a backsplash. it likely would have cluttered the space and ruined the simplicity.
there is a 3" turned up piece of counter top protects the wall from water leakage, which is all a backsplash is necessary for.... aside from decoration.

the whole wall is 23'0 across but about 17'0 to the fridge. the fridge & pantry take up the last 6'0. the island is 10'x4'. hope this helps your planning :)

What Houzz contributors are saying:
Katya Popova added this to Hanging Lightbulbs Hold Sway Over Rooms
This interior showcases how a simple light fixture repeated over and over can create quite a statement. Notice the knots in each cord: such a neat way of playing with your fixture's length while adding a lot interest to the space.
John Hill added this to A Single-Wall Kitchen May Be the Single Best Choice
Help can also come in the form of an island work surface, space permitting. This kitchen moves from the refrigerator (out of frame just to the right) to the sink in front of the window, and then to the stove on the left. The integrated design of the lower and upper windows, lower cabinets and upper shelves, and paint color is very appealing.
Mitchell Parker added this to 7 Ways to Design Your Kitchen to Help You Lose Weight
2. Get rid of the clutter. It’s not just food working against you, either. All those piles of mail and newspapers and gadgets aren’t doing you any good. Wansink has found that in cluttered environments, people eat 44 percent more snacks than those in a clutter-free environments. See how to get a spotless, organized kitchen
