The homeowner painted a large piece of smooth MDF wood and our carpenters put it on the wall and installed the frame around it. The chalkboard is not magnetic, but if you want it to be magnetic, you can use the same method, but instead of painting over the MDF wood, just paint over a magnetic surface, such as galvanized sheet metal (any hardware store like home depot will carry it). Just remember to sand the surface of the metal a little bit to help it accept the paint better and then back it with particle board or mdf (or something similar).

I'm thinking of doing a very similar colors for our kitchen, and using diamond cabinets. I see that the island is Tidal Mist but what color is the white cabinet?

What Houzz contributors are saying:
Vanessa Brunner added this to Kitchen of the Week: Stirring Up Two Styles in San Diego
A chalkboard near the kitchen entry pays tribute to the wife's artistic side. The couple has an active dog, so they chose durable vinyl planks for the kitchen and dining area floors.
Toronto Interior Design Group added this to What's the Right Wood Floor Installation for You?
StraightThe most common strategy when picking a wood flooring pattern is to consider two basic orientations. Assuming the wood will run in straight lines following the peripheral walls of a rectangular room, the flooring can run approximately north-south or east-west.Generally, choosing the orientation that follows the longest walls will emphasize the longer dimension, making the floor area appear bigger.
Sam Ferris added this to Pros and Cons of 5 Popular Kitchen Flooring Materials
5. VinylCost: Low-MediumVinyl flooring is manufactured in three primary forms: vinyl plank (above), vinyl tile and sheet vinyl. It has several installation methods, including peel and stick, glue down, and click and lock. It can look like wood or stone. Pros: Unlike tile, vinyl won’t chip, and unlike laminate, vinyl can handle moisture. Its durable surface won’t easily succumb to scratches and scuffs. It’s also soft on your feet, a perk for older homeowners and those with foot or knee problems. The DIY-friendly installation methods and reasonable price tag will help keep your piggy bank intact. It isn’t uncommon to find vinyl flooring under $3 per square foot. Cons: Though it varies by market, the majority of home buyers will prefer hardwood and tile to vinyl. Furniture can leave marks on vinyl’s soft surface. Foot-traffic patterns can emerge over time. High-quality vinyl planks can cost upward of $4 per square foot. The Case for Linoleum and Vinyl Floors | Browse vinyl flooring

Hey Jackson, I agree with your answer, this is vinyl plank
flooring. The most important thing about this flooring is, it is not only stunning
but also high durability and water resistance. This vinyl plank floor is extremely
easy to keep clean and looking like new. Harsh chemicals should not be used
while cleaning this floor.
