Love the image - Hello, Contacting from Shawn Elliott Luxury Magazine. Would like to inquire about possible use of this photo for publication in our upcoming issue. We're doing an article about indoor sports. This room would be perfect to include. I'd like to see if we could speak about it. Please contact. Thanks! Eric Neher

What are the dimensions of the hockey rink area and how small would you recommend doing before its not worth it? My kids are 10 and 8.....we don't have 28 feet long area...we have 14 x 10 as largest area without support beams...how much is the rubber per square foot about?! Thanks!

Hi @phalford, Here is a big batch of vintage Justice League wall art. From here it looks like they have many of the shots pictured here.

It appears to be low-pile wall-to-wall carpet that's been cut and inlaid with the pattern of the sports court using different colors of the same style carpet - Any good retail carpet sales & installation company can accomplish a similar effect for you.

Sorry for the very delayed response but it is not carpet. It is rubber that is custom designed and poured on scene.

What material is on the walls? - Is there something other than drywall on the walls? How do you protect against pucks and balls hitting the wall?

The walls are not protected. We had thought of padding the walls but the client didn't want that look in their home.

I think these are bigger and pricier than what you want. Google "Marvel Superhero wall art" and see some more choices!

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Erika Ward - Erika Ward Interiors added this to Sophisticated Kids' Spaces
This basement playroom helps to expand your kids' imagination. You may not have an indoor rink, but this floor's stripes are cooler than ice.
Bud Dietrich, AIA added this to Goodnight, Irene: It's Time to Reclaim Your Basement
Oh, yes. Definitely a hockey area for the kids to practice. Just make sure the walls are padded and soundproofed.
Becky Harris added this to Winterizing: Prepare the House for Snow-Day Activities!
This indoor hockey rink will keep kids entertained on an icy day. Here, the entire room is dedicated to the game, but you can simply set up a goal at each end of the the basement and let the kids take it from there.
Vanessa Brunner added this to 5 Basement Renovations Designed for Fun
Morris and team divided this basement into several designated spaces. The boys love to play hockey, so they had a custom rubber flooring made to resemble a hockey rink, and had it installed in one portion of the basement. Morris also had columns around the space padded and upholstered so the boys wouldn't hurt themselves while goofing around.
Becky Harris added this to Fantasy Kids' Rooms
This rec room is perfect for little Gretzkys in training.
Cathy Lara added this to Keep the Kids Entertained at Home
An indoor hockey room like this one in New York, formerly a basement, would bring out your little one's inner hockey beast. The room ups the cool and safety factors with rubber floors, so you don't have to worry about too many bumps and scratches.
Shawn Gauthier added this to How to Create the Ultimate Game Room
Think about your favorite sport. If you have the space and budget, you can re-create your favorite sport in your game room. “If you're into hockey, turn your entire basement into a floor-hockey stadium with built-in goals, a penalty box, proper flooring and safe lighting,” says Holloway. “Whatever you are into, find a way to make your lower-level game room unique to your needs and personality.”
Jess McBride added this to Dream Spaces: Taking Sports Indoors
HockeyAs kids, my brother and I spent winters skating around our backyard, and when the weather turned prohibitive, we would move the game to our basement, where we shuffled between the sofas on our knees playing floor hockey with little Hartford Whalers souvenir sticks. The lack of windows in many basements, such as this conversion on Long Island, New York, lets kids slap around a puck without causing too much mayhem.

What Houzzers are commenting on:

Titi Chen added this to 2. Rubber
INSPIRATION 4) an exceptional game room design that adds a fun and inviting atmosphere within the home
HU-348379512 added this to Basement

This is a great way to incorporate play into a carpet.
