I'm deciding on stain too! Have oil-rubbed walnut cabinets and white oak floorboards. I am considering a water-based neutral stain. Any comments are appreciated!

Unless it is a laminate that is printed, real wood cabinets will always have variations, that's the beauty of it. They also didn't take the cheap way out and run a panel horizontally on the front of the island. keeping all of the direction of the grain running vertically also makes the ceiling visually appear higher.

Beautiful Job! Adds nice warmth to what could be a cold space otherwise. Paul

On the walls we used Benjamin Moore's Super White with an eggshell finish and the ceiling was Benjamin Moore Super White with a flat finish.

The cabinets pulls were Richelieu hardware, in the satin stainless finish.
