This kitchen is gorgeous

I agree! It's my inspiration for my new kitchen and have found almost eveything for it but the Snow White granite for the countertops.Maybe since that ktichen was done almost a decade ago by Drury Designs. I've looked for other granites to no avail. My cabinets will be in soon and I don't have counterops picked out. Even though I love marble, cannot have it. So now looking into Quartz but not Quartzite.

Check out Rubio Monocoat "Ash Grey" over Plain Sawn White Oak.

Granite is more porous when it is unpolished and tends to stain and be harder to clean. Honed granite pores are wide open and because granite is not stainproof, a penetrating sealer for natural stone is recommended. Oil and grease will tend to darken granite. Honed surfaces are more susceptible to marking and particularly absorption of oils, water and alcohol. Granite is hard surface so it is difficult to scratch.

As mentioned above, granite is a very hard stone and is scratch resistant. Sealing your natural stone is important. It won't make the stone stain "proof", but it will slow the absorption rate. This gives more time to clean up spills, and clean affected areas before the stain causing substance gets too far into the stone's pores.

Drury design mentioned using a "penetrating" sealer. This is a key to keeping your stone resistant to staining. Since sealants very in quality and the wear will vary, you will find that different pros will give different lengths of time between sealer applications.

One technique that increases the amount of time you can wait between sealing is to use a "fortified" polish. If the polish includes sealants, it keeps your stone shiny while gradually maintaining the protection.

Finally, using a cleaner that is PH neutral is also a protection. This is because non-PH-neutral cleaners can and will breakdown the sealer on the stone. Implementing all of these practices with give your stone the best protection.

The tile was from our local supplier and the design was by our designer. The color of the tile was "Creamy Crackle". The liners and accents were a pewter metallic color.

The granite pictured in this kitchen is honed Snow White granite with a pencil edge. We purchased the granite from a local distributor and had it fabricator by a local fabricator.

Being that granite is a commodity, each stone's availability is based on supply and demand. We recommend that you contact a few different suppliers in your area and ask if they have any slabs of this stone or a similar stone available. We hope this helps. Thanks for your question.

I have since developed my own source. In fact designed similar backsplash only used beveled antique beige travertine. Turned out well. Thanks for the inspiration!

Mix 3 parts oil based faux glaze with 1 part black oil paint. Apply into all cracks and wipe excess away with a thinner moistened cloth. Work small areas at a time as you will have only 15 minutes of working time.
