7. Decorate the doorway surround. Set off your front door and give it greater presence by adding a decorative frame. If the architecture will accommodate such a treatment, line it with decorative tiles or a mosaic. If not, you can achieve a similar effect with paint.

This is a beautiful example of 6 different talavera style tiles all lined up as a border: solid 1/4 round, solid 2x4, pattern 4x4, and 2 rows of pattern 2x4, then a pencil liner at outside. Make sure the corners match and design/ install is centered. When you pick your tiles, make sure the colors match. There are several different shades in the solid colors that may or may not match the actual color in your pattern tile. Because of that, its worth it to go to a store and lay them out together.
