This home is clad with 'sinker' cypress clapboards, naturally weathering without stain to a silver-y grey.
'Sinker' cypress is so named as the logs are salvaged from river bottoms, primarily in the south, and because they have been submerged, are perfectly preserved from the logging era. They are dried slowly and then milled into usable wood. We used them for siding, trim, furniture etc. In fact the spiral stair inside here is also made with 'sinker' cypress.
