10' x 20' Chicken Coop
10' x 20' foot print coop. Suitable for 18-22 chickens. This is an all-in-one system that has the run and coop integrated.
All of the fencing is galvanized 1/2" hardware cloth. The whole system is built on a 10" non-mortared block foundation to prevent predators and to improve the squareness and longevity of the coop. There is a full sized door that can easily accommodate any size adult. There is also a double door system on the coop enclosure that allows for easy access for maintenance and cleaning. Within the enclosure you will find a poop panel that allows you to capture most of the chicken waste coming from the hens on the roosting bars as they sleep at night.
Eggs are easily gathered from the external nesting box. It has its own metal roof and 4 nesting boxes to give the girls some options as to where they might want to lay. Additionally there is a small door below the enclosure to access the space under it where we often recommend you hang your food.
All of these access points allow you to engage your chickens and their space without having to walk in the run and get poop on your feet, but again, of course if you want to there is a nice full sized door to gain entrance to the run.
All gangways and roosting bars are removable for easy access for maintenance or sanitation efforts.
We used non-treated lumber in the enclosure area and treated lumber everywhere else. There are vents in the eaves to allow for air flow without any draftiness. This unit has a metal roof that covers the enclosure and part of the run giving the chicken keepers protected access from weather to the run and giving the chickens different options of sun and shade variance and inclement weather protection.
