Edible Privacy Hedge

Our client needed a way to block a view from the side of her house and was debating a large fence or some type of hedge. Being urban homesteaders we wanted to design something for them that would not only help create the needed privacy, but also would produce food for them and the surrounding wildlife. Our solution... an edible hedge. This hedge is designed for form, function, and aesthetics. Every plant in this hedge produces edible fruits!

This edible privacy hedge runs 125 feet in length and will grow to over 10 ft in some places. The hedge starts off one end with 12 blueberry bushes in two rows with offset spacing to create the visual screen sooner than doing just one row. After the blueberries there are 11 pineapple guava plants. These actually can fruit in GA. Lastly, the hedge is rounded out with a cedar trellising system that supports 3 raspberry and 3 blackberry plants.
