This custom kitchen was a complete redesign of the space of an 1840s era stone home. The client desired a contemporary approach in response to the informal lifestyle of modern families. At the same time there was a wish to maintain the link with this home’s heritage. The end result, a stunning transformation that combines both.

Professional appliances throughout are a cook’s dream. Large pot drawers and upper spice drawers on either side of the oversized cook-top conveniently store all the essentials right where they are needed. Floating, illuminated shelves, complete with contemporary glass backsplash, provide for display as well as a functional spot for cook books. A pot-filler is conveniently located at the cook top.

The large island doubles as eating and prep area with a microwave drawer hidden below. Contrasting dark and light lacquered shaker cabinets add visual interest while maintaining a clean, uncluttered feel throughout. Natural quartz counters, heated porcelain floors with a stone look are the perfect work and living surfaces. Both tie in and complement the natural exposed stone walls of the original home. Wow!
