1959 Full Kitchen Remodel

The kitchen in this 1959 home was original and needed some attention. Although high end for the time, a large and busy family had taken a toll and it was time for a complete redo. The kitchen was completely gutted and new Medallion Platinum cabinetry, appliances, floor, lighting, and Corian Witch Hazel countertops were installed. A large laundry area that was located in a closet in the kitchen was relocated to a nearby hall closet using stackable units. That opened up about 24 sq feet which, along with moving and recessing the refrigerator into another closet, allowed for a large center island for work center and informal dining. The large vent hood covers a 30” gas stove and wok burner; a steam oven, refrigerator, and microwave are around the corner; and tall pullouts help to store all the kitchen needs of an active family. An end wall has red cabinetry to provide additional storage and prep space. The daughter painted the dancing rabbit tiles for the backsplash, incorporating both family history and Chinese legend into this great space.
