Night into day kitchen transformation

This eat in kitchen in a Pine Island, NY Cape Cod house didn’t function for these empty-nesters and needed a complete re-design. Without removing walls or adding any space, deleting a pantry and moving the kitchen entrance to the pantry’s former location allowed for an L-shaped layout that improves flow and function while adding space for additional cabinets for prep and storage. An island with an overhang on 3 sides for stools allows it to function both for prep and seating; moving the stove to the right of the sink gets it out of the corner of the room and allows the hood vent to the outside, an important consideration for people that really cook. We removed the soffits, replaced the floor, added under cabinet and recessed lighting, tiled the backsplash, changed the window for a single lite unit, and replaced the door to swing the opposite way and add full light.

Medallion Gold cabinets and molding in White Icing Classic paint and Smoke stain on Potters Mill door style; Cambria Summerhill quartz countertop; Blanco stainless undermount single bowl sink.
