201 Ann Street

Formerly Hartford's Masonic Hall, this building has a monumental scale, decorative brownstone and brickwork, and Masonic symbols that lend an imposing and richly detailed presence to a prominent downtown corner. It retains unusual historic details such as cast iron storefront columns and sidewalk vault lights, which allow daylight into the basement. The restaurant tenant will remain on the first floor and the upper five floors will be rehabilitated with 26 market-rate one bedroom apartments. The building, completed in 1894, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
