2015 Showhouse
The Infant Welfare Society of Illinois, producer of One of the Top Ten Showhouses in the United States, chose the John W. Hughes, Jr. estate in Lake Forest Illinois for its 2015 Lake Forest Showhouse & Gardens. Many fondly remember “The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” movies in which Mr. Hughes was involved. This 11,200 square foot estate, set on 2.5 acres is in the historic downtown district of Lake Forest,.
Loren Reid Seaman was one of 26 interior designers involved in the transformation of the Showhouse. The challenging three level space was located in the west wing and was comprised of the entry, staircase, staircase landing and second floor hall. Originally in caramel brown, Loren and the LRS Interiors team transformed the space with a dramatic and compelling use of deep eggplant and gray, inspired by tones found within the entry’s original Mexican tile flooring from Saltillo. Of special note are the stellar chandeliers in the entry and first landing of the staircase.
