With a small retail and office space, this 30 year old fine art gallery had just passed on ownership to a new director. She wanted a fresh look that showcased perfectly the artwork for sale yet provided abundant room for a two+ person work space and a client or two to sit, relax and spend. I fought hard for the wall color — fundamental to a room filled mostly with 19th century gilt-framed paintings — because I wanted maximum contrast, as if they were drawing away from the room’s perimeter. The custom-designed workspace functions perfectly as two desktops, pass-through vertical art storage, art/book display and archive filing. The client is so pleased that she brings the furnishings on the road to the international art fairs where she exhibits.
