A Home for Entertaining

New Home - New Look!
The owners had just purchased this lovely home and wanted to create a space that was homey and comfortable, and to accommodate large gatherings for frequent entertaining.
They took a few beloved pieces to their new home to be incorporated or repurposed, but our task was to create a bright, colorful space that reflects the energy of this lovely family.

The flow between the family room and the living room works because of color, texture and pattern. We carried the blues and greens from the front room into the family room with the wall color, and accessories to brighten rich gray upholstery.

A mirror should always reflect something interesting and add light to the room. The open weave of this blue ceramic vase adds texture and interest to a simple vignette.

The mirror reflects the light from the backyard and gives everyone a nice view of the room. The corner fireplace will eventually get a redesign. Until then, we painted the mantel surround to relate to the new floating shelves around the TV.

Another bedroom is dressed with repurposed furnishings. A mirror reflects light and the beautiful front yard. Glass based lamps are topped with DIY hand painted lampshades.

The lampshades had a very soft, tone on tone design of branches, nuts and flowers. While lovely, they got a boost with a bit of DIY custom painting. Mix a bit of textile medium with acrylic paint, and in minutes add a special bespoke piece to your room!

Lots of natural light from the backyard, yellow paint, crisp greens, cheerful orange and plenty of storage makes this office a productive, happy space. The shelving unit is actually a media center, repurposed for office storage and display space.

The entertainment unit became a functional and decorative office storage unit. Adding colorful baskets to hide small items that need to be kept handy, makes for a tidy space. Bright colors keep the energy high.
