Adding the finishing touches
When you are planning a remodel and need some assistance making material selections, figuring out cabinet layouts, lighting guidance, or simply want an expert’s opinion on your own ideas, we can help! We did just that for a recent client of ours.
Before moving into their newly purchased home, the homeowners had hired a local contractor to complete a remodel that involved the kitchen, eat-in area, great room, master bathroom and foyer. Fortunately the work was going to be completed before they moved in and Décor and You DC was called in early to help with selections for the kitchen, bathroom, great room built-ins, and to select the paint colors.
The homeowners were looking to create an open floor plan between the kitchen, great room and previously closed den area. Once the wall was removed and the den completely opened, Decor and You worked with the remodeler to revise the kitchen design to include this additional space. The original plan was to take only three feet from the den area. In the great room, we provided input on the layout of the coffered ceilings and also on the custom built-ins surrounding the fireplace.
In the kitchen, we worked with the client on selecting the cabinet finish, granite selection, design for the backsplash, and selecting the lighting fixtures. By using multiple tile distributors, we were able to create a unique backsplash. We found a great texturized tile for the backsplash focal area that the clients loved (and we do too)! A gray crackle subway tile surrounds this focal area. In the bathroom, the clients really wanted the look of marble but without the big price tag. We found a porcelain tile that has the same elegant look of marble, but is much easier to take care of and is at a much nicer price point.
Throughout the remodeled space, we provided input on the paint colors to create a cohesive look throughout.
