The homeowners desired a remodel that would offer improvements to better support their family and complement their lifestyle. The entire front half of the home was upgraded, which included adding a bedroom and office, as well as reconfiguring the kitchen and living room to create an open concept. Because a load-bearing wall was removed to facilitate this change, two big structural beams were appended to help support the roofline. To retain the historical aspect of the home and add an element of interest to the space, the nearly 100-year-old 2’ x 8’ ceiling joists were left exposed. A few modifications were also made to the basement, which consisted of structural support and a new electrical panel. Additionally, four new windows were installed. Though smaller in scale, this remodel involved a high-level of craftsmanship and quality materials, for a result that lends both improved functionality and style that the family is sure to enjoy for many years ahead.
