The family room had some challenges for the home owner. It did not have a lot of natural light and because of the configuration the room was not as functional as they would like it to be.. They have 3 children and their extended family is local so entertaining was a challenge.

These were the only windows in the family room. Unfortunately there was a wall that blocked out any natural light that the kitchen would have given it.

The existing Kitchen was dated and really not functional to their family needs. There was no storage to speak of in thus kitchen. There was some wasted space that could have been utilized but it would have eliminated the small breakfast area.

This shot is to show how he wall from the family room to the breakfast truly closed in the family room.

Looking at the family room I thought there was a good amount of wasted space on either side of the fireplace. Built-ins would solve some of the storage issues.
